For over 300 years, the Farnie family has fished the waters off the southern coast of Scotland. Part of a once a thriving community of fishermen, the Farnies are the only independent fishing family left in the region of Scotland who are still in business. For years, the men have been waking up early each day and pushing off with their nets, the work physically demanding and the storms sometimes brutal. Says Jonathan Farnie, “To us, there is no weather here. You just get up, and go.” What you wear on the water must be crafted to last. True to local tradition, each cable knit tells the story of a particular family lineage or adventure. It’s this kind of spirit, heritage, and passion that make the Farnie family the perfect storytellers for the Nautica brand. Here is their story.
